So many people are pissed at the banks. We made them who they are today. We the People are consumers. We weren't bitching and moaning when they loaned us money for things we wanted. If you looked back at every receipt from the last 30 years how much of that did you need? No, wanting something for a long time does not make it a 'need'.
We the Consumer didn't fall far from the tree. Our government is the biggest consumer of all. It shouldn't be a surprise that they bailed out the banks. They don't want their lifestyle to change. Americans have become quite accustomed to being comfortable. If that level of comfort suddenly disappeared we would have on hell of a mess on our hands. The veil of humanity is thin, too thin.
When did we go from having what we need and being happy to thinking that more and more would make up happier? Only to end up feeling empty with piles of stuff all around... and big mortgages and storage fees to house all of it.
If people want to get back at the banks then they should pay back the money they owe, the money they promised to pay back, and don't borrow any more. Claiming bankruptcy isn't the solution. We all need to be responsible for our actions, our wants, our greed. There is no fast solution... fast solutions is what got us here today. We created a huge economy out of money that never really existed. Everything needs to re-align. It will take time, it will cause some pain, and we will be stonger individuals, stronger families, and a stronger nation. THAT is the American Spirit. We are clever, intelligent, compassionate, creative, innovative and somewhere along the line we got too comfortable, a bit big in the britches. It's time to buy what we need and buy American. If we are spending our money with the past and future in mind then we can afford to buy American.
